There are many Operating Systems (DOS, Windows, UNIX).

More or less they do the same ... it depends by what you need.

- DOS

As Mike Gancarz said, DOS tries to bring "a taste of the mainframe" to the desktop.

It is very small and efficient (ok, ok ... memory management isn' t so good and the file system sucks), but it is also very simple and fast to use.

For a modern implementation ... FreeDos

- Windows

Nothing to say ... do you remember a sort of ... blue screen ?

- UNIX
